Follow Up Boss Automatio 2.0

OVERVIEW

FUB Automation 2.0 is a major upgrade to the existing automation system, replacing the older 1.0 version and traditional action plans. It introduces a more powerful, flexible, and user-friendly experience. The project follows a clear, phased roadmap, with multiple release increments planned to gradually roll out new capabilities.

What is Automation

Automations remain one of the most engaging and widely used features in Follow Up Boss. However, we recognize that the current experience can be difficult to learn, and customers consistently express a desire to get more value from it.

Business Opportunity

To help with adoption and simplicity, a new automation tool that combines actions plans and automations into one feature. We call it automation 2.0.

• User problem

Currently customers have to learn both of the action plan and automation features to get the most out of FUB and it is hurting adoption.

Our Approach to the first time user experience(FTUE)

• Initial Outcome

I experimented with a simplified purchasing experience to reduce churn by designing and testing a stand-alone page using existing React components, allowing us to deliver quickly without impacting our trader user base. Building on this approach, I’m now testing Automations 2.0, which combines automations and action plans into a single step, giving users greater flexibility to manage tasks and follow-ups while seamlessly migrating all existing workflows to the new system.

• Design Ideation

I facilitated design workshops with PMs, designers, and researchers to present research and competitive analysis findings and to come up with lots of creative ideas. I further developed the designs some of the ideas to make it more tangible, created user flows, wireframes and high fidelity prototypes, tested them with users, and iterated several times based on insights we gained. I can go deeper into this section during my portfolio presentation of the interview process.

• Design Solutions

Separate the Basic and Advanced features with a global "mode switcher".
Provide a simple and visual way to see how your investments are doing over time.
Display cryptocurrencies as "Assets" rather than "Markets" (e.g. "Bitcoin" instead of "BTC/USD").
Make the token project details page easier to access.
Let users buy directly from the token project details page and the wallets page.
Make content easier to scan rather than looking like spreadsheets.

Outcomes

Drove the design of Automations 2.0, a strategic platform initiative that unified workflow automation experiences and enabled the transition from legacy Action Plans. Shipped core sharing and discovery capabilities that facilitated 3,200+ automation shares, accelerating workflow reuse and collaboration at scale. The launch unlocked broader customer rollout, improved platform adoption, and established the foundation for future intelligent automation investments.
